«INA Penser les médias» (thinking the media) Series
By Antoine Spire
Who could deny the influence of the media onto our daily life ?
The television, the radio, the newspapers, books, films but also the Internet and mobile phones have almost become prostheses of our relation to the world.
Despite the unstoppable rise of technologies this one is being experienced differently according to people’s social backgrounds. The fascination for the media, the appropriation of its contents, the identification to media-heroes but also the rejection of an excessive media coverage take all sorts of aspects, depending on where you are placed in the social hierarchy.
How can the tranformation of the media offer be appraised ? What can be said about the social use of incredibly fast expanding technologies ? What kind of social images emerge from the media maelstrom ? Does our way of life change as fast as the media landscape ? Do we know more than yesterday, less than tomorrow ? What type of dialogue does it create with others ?
These are the fields that the “Penser les médias” series aspire to explore.
